On a different monitor, I see that now as well.
Perhaps that has been removed in-camera when the jpeg was created? It could just be because the shadows are lighter overall but there does appear to be a hint of chromatic aberration or purple fringing going on which is now visible in the ladies hair and in the brick wall behind her at the right side of the frame. OTOH, the hand-written signs on paper, in the fish, are much clearer (less CA) and have better contrast in the jpeg. Excellent detail in the PhotoNinja image. Look also at the sweater and wall just behind and to the right of the merchant's face.

I also like the small flange distance on the Fuji offerings.I can use any of my manual lenses on it with the right adapter. I am a "crop" shooter already and love the feel of the Fuji line. Rainer, it also appears that more detail has been brought back in the dark shadow areas (hair, jacket on wall, etc.) RAW processing is the one and only issue that has been holding me back from getting an X-Pro1 or X-E1. Italy seen thru Contax f2.8 90mm rendered by PhotoNinja The PhotoNinja rendering shows far more detail in the merchant's skin while keeping similarity to the nice Fuji colors. It is quite surprising after this year of rather hopeless attempts to better the Fuji jpg files. In particular it shows less magenta / reddish cast.Īnd here are another two examples.
It does also much better with my 5D2 images for candides and portraits, as the rendering of caucasian skin tones is more to the liking of all my friends and relatives. that way I don't have to use the 5D3 as my only landscape camera Seeing now how well they did with X-Trans on their initial release, gives me another reason to be hopeful. Based on how well it handled my 5D and 5D II shots, I was sold. I hope they can work some magic with the DP Merrills. Although I'm not a Fuji user, I am a big Photo Ninja fan.
